Critical Illness coverage is supplemental coverage that pays you directly upon a qualified event, such as heart attack, stroke, coma, cardia arrest, third degree burns, organ transplants, or end-stage renal failure. For example, if you had a heart attack, your health insurance would cover your medical bills in accordance to its plan summary and your critical illness policy would pay you for parts of care received (often that includes a lump sum for first-occurrence, daily hospitalization, lodging, transportation and more). This additional policy helps cover lost wages or may be used towards your deductible; it pays you directly to use however you desire.
